Strategic concrete

Concretes for structures
that are built once.

The same science that seals a 3,000-metre well builds the surface. Strategic-infrastructure materials sold on certified performance and lifecycle cost — never per cubic metre.

The framing

Not a concrete supplier.
A materials licensor.

Ready-mixed concrete is a logistics business decided by distance and price. That is a good business, and it is not ours.

BETOSIM™ strategic concretes exist for the small share of construction where the material itself is the engineering decision — where a structure is designed for a hundred years, an exceptional load, a hostile environment or a consequence of failure that no procurement saving can justify. In that share, performance is specified, certified and audited, and the material is chosen long before a supplier is.

We license the formulations and the quality governance to producers who can hold the specification. What is sold is not volume; it is certified performance, and the lifecycle cost that follows from it.

Where it belongs

  • Energy infrastructure — foundations, containment and support structures with long design lives in aggressive environments.
  • Defence-grade and protective construction — where impact and blast performance are design requirements rather than desirable properties.
  • Long-span and slender structures — where strength-to-weight decides whether a geometry is buildable at all.
  • Repair and strengthening of critical assets — where a thin, very strong section must do the work of a thick one.
The lines

Three engineered lines.

UHPC LINE

Ultra-High Performance

Extreme load · long design life
What it is

An ultra-high performance cementitious composite built on optimised particle packing and a very low water-to-binder ratio — a dense, low-permeability matrix in a class of its own relative to conventional structural concrete.

Why it is specified

Because the section can be thinner, the reinforcement lighter and the design life longer. Density and low permeability are what keep aggressive ions out of the matrix, so durability is a property of the material rather than of the coating applied to it.

Validated

Mean compressive strength 174.4 MPa over the 90-day programme.

SHC

Fibre-Engineered Strategic

Impact · flexure · toughness
What it is

A steel-fibre-engineered strategic concrete in which the fibre system is designed with the matrix rather than added to it — so cracking is bridged and energy absorbed instead of released.

Why it is specified

Compressive strength describes how a material resists being crushed; it says nothing about what happens when it is struck, bent or overloaded. This line is specified where post-crack behaviour is the design requirement — strength that bends before it breaks, and warns before it fails.

Validated

202 MPa compressive strength with high flexural performance and toughness.

LWC 60

Ultra-Light Structural

Strength-to-weight · binder efficiency
What it is

A structural-grade ultra-lightweight concrete developed from the same lightweight science as the ULW well system: engineered lightweight phases and particle packing rather than entrained air.

Why it is specified

Dead load is the tax every structure pays on itself. Reducing the mass of the structure reduces the section, the reinforcement and the foundation it needs — and, on retrofit, decides whether an existing frame can take the addition at all.

And the carbon

Less mass at equal structural capability means less binder per unit of performance. That is the honest form of the low-carbon claim, and the only one we make. Our sustainability position →

Lifecycle value

The cost that matters
is the one over sixty years.

A strategic material costs more per cubic metre and less per decade. That is not a slogan — it is an arithmetic that only works when the durability is real and the evidence survives inspection, which is precisely why we hold the claims discipline we do.

01

Less section

Higher performance permits thinner elements and lighter reinforcement — less material moved, placed and paid for.

02

Less intervention

A dense, low-permeability matrix resists the ingress that drives deterioration, so the maintenance programme starts later and costs less.

03

Longer life

Structures that reach their design life instead of being rebuilt inside it — the largest avoided cost and the largest avoided carbon.

04

Defensible specification

Certified, traceable performance that stands up in front of a designer, an insurer or a public client.

Specifying, or producing?

Designers and clients can request the technical dossier for specification-level data under NDA. Producers with genuine quality-control capability should look at the licensing route.
